Foster young life in rural areas. Learn from the past, create for the future.

Social transformation practices and sustainable ecology: a project to reflect about and bridge progress and living perspectives for young people into rural areas.

Funded by: Erasmus+ Youth Mobility

Duration: 20 months (01.03.2023 – 31.10.2024)

Description:

The Erasmus + project Foster young life in rural areas is aimed to discover, elaborate and expand designs and practices of social and ecological/sustainable transformation with a particular focus on rural areas at risk of depopulation. Addressed to youth workers and trainers the project consists of two training-workshops where non-formal methods will be provided for youth workers to foster social inclusion, progress and sustainability for young people in rural areas through educational and cultural approaches and sustainable lifestyle perspectives.

The training units take place in two small villages at risk of depopulation: one close to Verbania-Ossola area (Piemonte region – Italy) and the other in Verra-Meißner district (Northern Hessen – Germany).

During these workshops participants reflect on how youth work in rural areas can contribute to creating inclusive and empowering spaces that enable participation and realisation of interests of all young people. Based on best practice examples as well as the creative analysis of local experiences, existing solutions are identified and explored, and new approaches are developed at different levels. Moreover, a variety of methods of non-formal education will be applied and shared, facilitating access to the topic and fostering youth workers’ professional development.
