2001

Beginning and first steps

On the 14th of November 2001, in Granarolo dell’Emilia, just outside Bologna, Arca di Noè social enterprise was established to facilitate the employment integration of individuals as specified by the Italian law 381/99 directions concerning the employment of people with disabilities. Since 2001, Arca di Noè has been a proud member of Confcooperative, the leading organisation representing, supporting and safeguarding the Italian cooperative movement and social enterprises.

2006

The growth

In 2006, Arca di Noè expanded its scope by becoming a type B+A social enterprise, broadening its services to include areas related to disability, migration and combating marginalisation. 

In 2008, Arca di Noè was the first social enterprise to manage services within the SPRAR project (System for the Protection of Asylum Seekers and refugees) in Bologna. 

During the same year, Arca di Noè, along with other cooperatives, played a pivotal role in founding the Consorzio Solare Sociale. This collaborative initiative aimed to launch vocational integration programs in the fields of photovoltaics and energy efficiency.

2010

Consorzio l’Arcolaio

In 2010 Arca di Noè founds, along with Piazza Grande e La Piccola Carovana, the umbrella organisation Consorzio l’Arcolaio. Nowadays, 14 social cooperatives are part of this consortium. Since 2014, with the increasing landings and arrivals of migrants, Arca di Noè has been actively involved in managing reception facilities and providing services to asylum seekers and refugees.

2019

Birrificio Vecchia Orsa joins Arca di Noè

In 2019, Arca di Noè revitalised the productive and commercial activities of the Birrificio Vecchia Orsa, emphasizing the quality of craft beer and the social vocation of the brewery.

2023

Arca di Noè in the territory of Perugia

In 2010 The history of Arca di Noè is enriched by two other significant events: the opening of the Fuori Orsa Moline in the center of Bologna and the launch of the SAI Project in the Municipality of Magione (PG) in Umbria.

Today, Arca di Noè remains committed to providing innovative solutions to the needs of communities and the territories in which it operates, both in the offering of personal services and in the productive sector.

Locations

Since its establishment in Granarolo dell’Emilia (Bologna) and the provision of services in the Metropolitan City of Bologna, our social enterprise has grown over the years. It has diversified its areas of intervention and developed projects and collaborations in different territories. The regions where we currently operate include Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Umbria and Lombardy.
